I’m Jack Martin, the writer and researcher behind Grout Cleaner. I’ve spent 10+ years working hands-on with tile and grout — cleaning it, repairing it, sealing it, and figuring out why some methods work and most don’t.

What I do here: Since 2020, I’ve personally tested more than 500 grout and tile cleaning products — cleaners, sealers, brushes, steam machines, and DIY solutions — under real household conditions. Every guide on this site is based on something I’ve actually tried, not repackaged advice from other sites.

Background: Before focusing on grout and tile full-time, I worked in general home maintenance and cleaning, which is where I first ran into the problem every homeowner eventually hits: grout that looks clean for a week, then goes right back to grey. That problem became the reason this site exists.

How I test: Every product review or method guide follows the same process — apply it to real grout under normal conditions, time the results, compare it against what I’ve already tested, and report the failures honestly along with the wins.
